For over 40 years,\u00a0Simmons Family Restaurants<\/a>\u00a0have been part of San Francisco. They’ve created and developed a broad range of Bay Area restaurants and destinations, including San Francisco\u2019s PIER 39.<\/p>\n

SIMCO restaurants continue to make strides in helping the environment, each of which they are incredibly proud of. In 2011 they became a Seafood Watch partner and began purchasing 100% sustainable seafood.\u00a0Serving over<\/strong>\u00a0200 tons of seafood a year<\/strong>, they felt the need to do their part in protecting the oceans. They made numerous menu changes to meet the Seafood Watch partnership. With a focus on protecting the oceans, SIMCO switched from using\u00a0plastic to paper straws in 2017<\/strong>. Since their switch to paper straws, PIER 39 has also started a PIER wide goal to \u201cSkip the Straw\u201d.<\/p>\n

As of June 2018, SIMCO restaurants are proud to be\u00a0San Francisco Green Businesses<\/a>. In becoming a Green Business, they re-evaluated their methods on what it means to be sustainable. Through a strict process, SIMCO focused on their sustainable disposing approaches.\u00a0SIMCO has been composting food waste since mid 2005, and felt the need to better their green practices.<\/p>\n

SIMCO values the environment and all that it offers. Dedicated to protecting the environment, they therefore strive to meet the highest environmental standards. As a top priority, SIMCO is committed to environmental sustainability and making further connections to communities that share their values.<\/p>\n
